Frequently Asked Questions

Tyres – We highly recommend using duel ply or DH tyres. Even foam inserts can help. You should definitely be running tubeless. There are loads of rocks, and fixing punctures means less ride time.

Spares to bring with – brake pads, tyres if you like skidding, mech hanger, gear cable….

Breaks – 160 Roters or bigger will be fine.

Flat pedals or clipped – what ever you normally ride

Suspension – you could get down on a hard tail, but generally 140 travel and higher. 120 on 29er works well also.

Helmet/ body armour – helmet is compulsory, open or full face is up to you, 90% of guests use open face. Knee pads compulsory. The rest is optional but highly recommended.

Back packs/ water – unless you are doing a big morning/ day ride you don’t have to carry much as we always come back to the shuttle. However, keep in mind tubes,spares, tools etc. So unless you ride full enduro mode and strap everything to your bike always have a pack handy….you never know, it’s an adventure.

Arm pump – yes, arm pump is real. It usually goes away after a few runs. The key to reduce arm pump is loosen your grip,

Start time – we aim to leave the garage around 9:15-9:30

Finish time – we normally finish around 5pm, depending on fitness/ stoke levels, arm pump, bar craving etc.

Faster rider – if you are a rapid rider and you are confident either let us know or we will figure this out quickly, we have some fun options for you.

Slower rider – if you are a less experienced rider and you are new to the big mountains/ rocks/roots/ steepness either let us know or we will figure this out quickly. We can control the pace to suit you.

Fast and slow riders – it is rare for a group to have a massive variation in speed, however, if there is we typically try and split the group.

Airport pick up – we will be waiting outside at departure “kiss and fly” on a silver VW transporter.

Transfer – we will be waiting outside at departure “kiss and fly” on a silver VW transporter.

Hire bike – we can offer you hire bikes. ……….?

Bike shop – there is no bike shop near by. 40min drive. We have limited spares in our garage.

Bike wash – yes, but there is no mud here.

Work shop – yes

Braai night – South African BBQ, vegetarian options available.

Non riding guest – non riding guests are welcome. There is loads for them to do and see. Message us so we can work out a price for them.

Days off – on your days off you can , swim,hike, bike,walk around the village… maybe come help with some trail maintenance. Or just recover. It is entirely up to you.

Ebike – we are teaming up with a local company that provide E-bike tours. Check out the link.

Swimming – the Rivers are awesome, so bring something to swim in, or go Al-natural.

Climbing – check out Atipico for extra outdoor sport.

Beach – the beach is 40min drive away, we tend not to go there.

Shops – there is a local shop to get the essentials. To be honest, you should not need much once you are up here. However, of you do, the next big town is 40min drive away.
